The live lookup sends only the 64-character fingerprint, never the record. It also shows the anchor's time and label, and finds anchors made since the last published list.
Where to next
- It does not match? Ask whoever gave it to you for the original file, as it was sent, and check again. If it came from a care provider, their records office can give you the copy they hold.
- Anchor a record that is yours: put its fingerprint in the public registry now, so you can show later that it existed unchanged today. Anchors are public and permanent; only the fingerprint is stored.

What a result means. Identical fingerprints mean identical bytes. That is all. It does not say the record is true, complete, or written or signed by the person it names. It is not a clinical signature and not legal advice.
Why a copy can differ with no edits. A PDF that was re-saved, printed and scanned, converted, or passed through some e-mail systems gets a new fingerprint even when no word changed. For those, ask for the original file. For text, this page tells you when only line endings or spaces at the end of lines differ.
How it works. SHA-256, computed by your browser's built-in Web Crypto. There is no AI here and no account. Nothing you add is stored or sent. The registry check downloads the published list for the latest day and confirms that the list's own fingerprint equals that day's countersigned root before searching it. The recipe to check that root against Bitcoin.
